Jamie Sterling conquers the Billabong Pico Alto Invitational 2010

Jamie Sterling has won the Billabong Pico Alto Invitacional 2010, held in Punta Hermosa, Peru.
Waves were spectacular and the foggy weather added a dramatic scenario to the swell condition. The biggest sets reached 35 feet and many big wave surfers even had problems dropping each mass of water because of constant peak changes.
“I’m very emotional since this is the first time I have won a Big Wave World Tour event” expressed the smiling Hawaiian.
The Peruvian surfers proved surfing has a lot of potential in the country. Gonzalo Velasco, Billabong team rider and Sebastian De Romaña arrived to the semifinals competing along side twelve of best international big wave riders, including current world champion Carlos Burle from Brazil and defending Billabong Pico Alto 2009, winner Greg Long from the USA.
